I registered today for the 2008 Golden Knights Correspondence Tournament, but I cannot find any information stating when the tournament will start! Can someone help me with this? Also, is there an official web page for this tournament?
Registration for the 2008 Golden Knights tournament started last December and will continue to be accepted until the end of November, at which point the USCF will start accepting registrations for the 2009 Golden Knights.
It may take a few weeks for you to get assigned to a section.
The rules and other details on the event are available at:
How is it that I have been registered for a tournament already in progress? The only way I can see it working is if the group I’m inserted into have not begun their games. I read the rules page, but it does not go into very much detail at all. Any additional information that you could provide would be very much appreciated.
Preliminary sections for this three-stage annual event are paired up throughout 2008. It takes several years for this event to complete, because there are preliminary sections, from which the top-scoring people will qualify for semi-final sections, which will start in a year or two. The final sections will be paired up another year or two after that.
You can register more than once. Each registration will be assigned to a different preliminary section.
I think the URL I gave for the special rules for this event explains it more completely than I can. If you have additional questions, you should contact the USCF’s Correspondence Chess director, Alex Dunne, cchess@uschess.org.
Ok, thank you for your help. I just wish there was an official web page dedicated to the tournament which surely would allow for much more specific help than the one-page rules url does.
