A while back there was some discussion in this forum about details regarding the 2008 Senior Open.
One item was the confusion generated by the TLA wording regarding the amount of the total prize fund. In discussions between Bill Hall and me, we decided to simplify it.
The new wording is: “$5,500 guaranteed”
At first, considering the number of entries in recent senior opens. this guarantee would appear to be a guarantee for losing money but that won’t happen. Thanks to very generous personal donations from Joel Channing and Erik Anderson, the USCF will not lose money.
Details on the tournament will appear in the January issue of Chess Life. If you are over fifty and want to play in a great tournament - come to the 2008 US Senior Open at Boca Raton, Florida (Apr 28 to May 3).
Don, the wife and I have plans to be there (if nothing comes up) It was so kind of you to offer your home, all meals, and the use of your auto, for as long as we wished to stay  .
P.S. I would like to point out and thank, Joel Channing, and Mister Anderson. Some have problems with Joel, but it is sometimes the things you do behind the lime light that needs to be known.
Online registration for the 2008 Senior Open will be available through the USCF website in a few days, I just need to check with Joan that we’ve got all the links in place.
Yes definitely belongs in tournament forum and in the future that is where it will be. I put it here because a while back I said I would get back here with a tounament update.
