Sometimes the box exists for a reason. Six players (and higher) RR schedules are more complicated than quads. A quad can be run safely as a Swiss. You can also alternate colors in 1 and 2 and toss for color in 3. Neither of those strategies will work with a hex or larger. (A Swiss might work, but only with some luck with the results). There will be some lines in the big RR table that are more favorable than others—that’s why you randomize rather than assign.

I’ve heard this before. Are you also going to say that the rulebook is just a suggestion guide? I run my tournaments with one goal of not getting reversed on appeal.
