The annual Pillsbury Memorial Tournament was a resounding success. Ken Ballou ran the tournament like it was a fine Swiss watch. Results can be found at : main.uschess.org/component/optio … temid,181/
The Open winner was David Vigorito with John Curdo and Bennet Pellows tied for second.
It’s also worth noting that the rating report was submitted for processing before 8:30 PM (CT) on the 25th, the day the tournament was held. The time control was G/60 and the last round was at 5:30 PM (ET), so that means the event was probably submitted within two hours of when it ended.
We are reaching a point where some players EXPECT this for every event, but I think it’s still worthwhile to salute those TDs who make that last little effort and get their tournaments rated the same day they end.
