I inherited a box of Cathy ‘Chess Timer’ clocks. I understand that these are poor quality clocks and I would never buy them but I thought for free I might use them as additional clocks for my local scholastics.
Following the directions, I can set the clocks easily for Game/30 no delay. However, on the two I tested, the ‘Pause’ button doesn’t work. On the first clock I tested I think the Pause button worked once or twice and then stopped apparently forever. On my second test clock, the ‘Pause’ has never worked. Any suggestions other than landfill?
I have not been able to set either clock for 5 second time delay. I have followed the directions for reset and/or removing the batteries and then switching mode but have had no success getting the time delay mode to activate. Any thoughts other than target practice?
I can use the clocks (for as long as they last) without time delay but having a working Pause button is a must.
Does this clock even have a delay mode? Is there anything in the instructions that mentions it? If the clock is poor quality, I would expect the instructions to be poor also.
Or, maybe “pause” means “delay” in this manufacturer’s warped vocabulary. Maybe the pause button is how you set the delay, rather than how you pause the clock.
Just a cheap poorly-made product. About 10% failed keeping time on either the right hand or the left hand clock. So thiese are just landfill.
Another 30% the ‘Pause’ button doesn’t seem to work. I can use these on our Non-Rated K-3 section where they play so fast that a functional ‘Pause’ button is a luxury.
I didn’t pay anything for these so I have minimal outrage.
