Our magazine got national attention! (Well, late-night-basic-cable national attention…)
And it was mocked at (along with the other magazines).
Deservedly so. Have you ever met chess players?
Billionaire owner of Newsweek Mort Zuckerman stated last week on the Mclaughlin Report that he should have gone online years ago. “That’s where the advertising dollars are.”
Smart guy.
Mock mock mocking on Kevin’s door…
Anybody want to start a pool on when Newsweek ceases publication entirely?

Anybody want to start a pool on when Newsweek ceases publication entirely?
That would be illegal in Florida.
The other cited magazines have higher circulation than Chess Life. To some people there ain’t nothing like “noodling.”
Newsweek’s paper demise has been in the works for over a year, according to the editor. Like many national magazines, subscriptions are down. They will likely keep most of the present staff. How much money they are going to make, well, that will be interesting to see. Mort Zuckerman may keep it around as a toy, a flagship for his other enterprises. It will allow him to express his political opinion and at a cheaper cost than through the present magazine.
Even billionaires eventually find there is a bottom line they need to watch.
