The Brits are planning an enormous promotion for July 18, using all of Trafalgar Square:
Living chess games, free instructions by masters, giant boards for anyone to play on, etc.
The underlying idea seems to be that there are thousands of players, mainly young, who got into on-line chess during the pandemic and can be lured into taking the next step, face-to-face chess.
Considering that the Brits are still planning for Astra Zeneca booster shots this fall, this is a remarkable effort.
