What’s the cost per person for current members to send out advertisements for tournaments? I assume they can be filtered by activity and mile radiuses (zip codes)
How do I go about getting this?

You need to send a written request to the USCF office, explaining the parameters of your request and the purpose for which the labels will be used.
There’s a form on the Brochures and Forms page for this.
The cost is $20 + 5 cents per label if it falls within the normal parameters, which includes such things as players who were in certain events, who live within a specified distance from some zip code, ranges of states or zip codes
Any lists that involve writing a program to select members using a more complex set of criteria will include a custom programming fee.
Members who have requested that their address not be given out will be excluded from the labels that you receive.
Last time I used this, it was $20 per setup parameter. Has that changed? One setup parameter is some combination of restrictions based on ZIP code, membership type, activity, etc. Usually you can get it all done in one, but if, for example, you wanted “Players rated over 1200 in ZIP codes xxxxx-yyyyy, plus players rated over 1800 in ZIP codes aaaaa-bbbbb”) you would need two setups.
So that’s current members I assume, and also what are the advertisement rates in the TLA for like 1/4th page, or 1/2 page?
You can specify current members, all members (I don’t advise it), or expiring by a certain date. Option lsited on the form are:
You’d have to ask Dan Lucas about the display ad rates. I’m pretty sure a half-page is in four figures, though.
Assuming this page is up to date a half page is $1490. I think that’s for black and white, you’d have to ask the USCF office for color rates. (Ad manager Ray West is on sick leave, I don’t know who’s filling in for him.)
A label run can handle several ranges of zip codes (I think the order form says 10 ranges.)
However, if you want Experts and above from one set of zip codes, A players and above from another set of zip codes, etc, those would be separate setups, each with a $20 setup charge.
Thanks! I’m guessing if I wanted say 1000 addresses / labels with active players above a rating of 1000, so it would be $20 + (1000 * .05), I’d be looking at like $70?
Yes, but you’d have to tinker with your parameters to get the total to the level you wanted. I usually ask for a count of the number generated by a given set of parameters before ordering. If it’s too high, I can change the rating or ZIP code range.
The office used to offer a choice of hard-copy labels or a CSV file. You’d have to ask whether they still do the labels. Most mailing houses prefer to work from a file these days, and if it’s a small mailing you are doing yourself, you can print them from Word.
That’s what i’d prefer too, but if it were the same cost… I’m putting together a proposal (step 2) for a corporate funding. So I think even if they covered the cost, they have the mailing stuff that would help out anyway. The more info the better, but at least I get a general idea.
Yes, they still do pressure sensitive labels, though I think more of them go out via email these days.
