Success! And to think you’re at only 50%. Haven’t done extensive checking, but WinTD handles the download and database creation, and the few records I’ve checked show the December ratings.
One curious thing that is not related to the problem at hand - I (10281636) played some rated games in October and I don’t appear on either the November or December rating lists. So there still must be some problems somewhere. But maybe they’ll have all that figured out for January. For now, thanks for getting the WinTD thing working.
I play only as a houseman in kiddie tournaments, so gain only fractions of a point. But I thought if you were active, your name should appear in the supplement. No?
yes it should. not sure why it did not. Looks like the problem was on the old system a month ago, you weren’t active in November.
Rating page needs to a line at the top for ‘last rated’ THEN show the individual months where you were active.
As I look at this again, the October event missed the cutoff for the November supplement but there should have been a December record, because you were active even if your rating did not change. Good example to give to the developers.
Hmm, here’s another one. 30429426 His December rating on MUIR does not match the database WinTD just downloaded. The downloaded one has 958, MUIR has 951. The SwissSys database has it right. But several other players I’ve checked do match up in the WinTD database.
If unrateds are being listed as zero instead of blank we’ll need to do a doublecheck to verify how the odd player bye is assigned. I’ll look at it later today (anticipating the program will still assign it to the lowest actual rating in the bottom scoregroup that doesn’t already have upcoming byes.
I just ran a test for an event I’m assisting with next weekend using WinTD 5.10c. It seemed to retrieve the rating file correctly as I checked a few players who I know played in early November and their ratings were their December rating, but it did list some strange characters at the top of the list when I did a manual look-up.
Also, I have two unrated players registered. I loaded them from my custom upload spreadsheet with a blank for the rating but the ‘Update from Database’ option put a ‘0’ in for their rating which then did give one of them the bye when I did mock pairings. I’ll have to remember to remove those zeros prior to doing the pairings.
Yeah, there are apparently some non-standard characters coming over from CIVI, we’ll probably need some kind of filter in the transfer process to clean those up, otherwise every time a member record is re-synced it’ll get messed up again.
I would have thought that any software would take a USCF 0 rating to mean same as a blank by default? wintd does seem to validate the rating form to some extent
One of the beautiful things about using one of the SaaS options out there (rather than the old desktop apps) is never having to worry about uploading these all member / supplement files. Would make the transition a heck of a lot smoother for many TDs if they didn’t have to worry about pulling down the new files
Over the years I’ve lost track of just how many sites did not have any wi-fi or did not have a public wi-fi or did not have a public wi-fi that moved at more than a crawl.
I remember being at a national scholastic in downtown Atlanta, no cell phone service in the basement where the playing rooms were.
I’ve tried using the hotspot feature on my iPhone, with mixed results.
These days it can be hard to draw the line between SaaS tools and installed apps. I’ve got a new laptop, on it Excel is a SaaS, on the older one it is installed locally. Hard to tell them apart.
