Dwldng GDB does not install

When I select the tsv file from my desktop the box that says "“preparing Golden database…” comes up but then goes away and it does not install. Am I doing something wrong?

The TSV file is not a golden database (DBF) file, it is a tab-delimited file that has all 6 ratings systems in it.

I don’t know what pairing program you’re using or how current it is.

With older versions, you may also need to change the file name to either TARATSUP.DBF (for a DBF file) or rtglist.txt for a TSV file.

OK, tried both of those, no luck. But didn’t I see that the next rating update would not happen tolmarch 26th? Was trying to get latest DB for my tnmt March 21st so guess will need to go with Feb ratings?

I am not aware of any software out there that can’t use the TSV or direct API to pick up the official March rating list unless it is old version. If you note which software you are using and the version folks here can probably help or at least tell you to upgrade your software.

Did you download one of the Gold Master files and rename it TARATSUP.DBF? What pairing program are you using and what version of it?

I think it was Golden DB. WinTD, v 5.10g. Get the feeling am doing some thing wrong. can someone give me a procedure list for doing this. had no problems getting DBases for 20 yrs.

You probably want this file for a golden DB:

All Members:

Regular

Blitz

Includes all members with their most-recent official ratings for Regular and Blitz.

Format:

dbf

Size:

69.0 MB

Formerly referred to as the “Golden DB w/Blitz”.
Some legacy software may need the downloaded file renamed as: TARATSUP.DBF

But I think WinTD 5.0 or higher can process the all ratings tab file:

All Ratings (including non-member records)

Includes all latest ratings for all rating systems, including non-member records.

Format:

tsv

Size:

86.2 MB

Some legacy softwares may need the downloaded file renamed as: rtglist.txt

Ok, have the USCf-2026-03-ALL Members-Blitz.dbf on my Desktop. Also have 1 I renamed TARATSUP.dbf. Now how do I get it into WinTD to use?

The WinTD issue is that the program can’t do the automatic download anymore due to from where the files are download.
Workaround is you want the ALL Ratings TSV file - download it - then in WinTD go to USChess/Install from TSV.

These are the instructions for installing the ratings file using WinTD:

US Chess Database

Thanks Tom, but sadly this does not work.Followed your directions 3 times and when I click on the rating file I get a dialog box that says”preparing the Golden database” and then it disappears and nothing happens. Even afetr15 minutes nothing happens. Did discover that my USChess>us Chess Directory is USCF(file I created when I got program as I thought I should) I changed it to :TNMTADMT in preferences and saved but still it didn’t work . Went to File Folder and the “USCF” file is still listed there. Craig

Yeah – I got the disappearing dialog, too.
I assumed it worked & I must have closed the dialog somehow so I went tried to register a player and it said it needed to create the indexes – it did then I was able to use use the lookups fine.

I have loaded it from both the WinTD Ratings directory and from my generic download subdirectory – key is the target to be the real place you tell wintd to look for your USCF directory

Did not get “Creating Indexes” when I did what you said. The TSV file is in where all my other tnmt files are(USCF). I can use lookup. Does that mean I have access to that TSV file?? Craig
