FIDE ratable sections with WinTD

Is the $60 minimum imposed by FIDE or by USCF? I was under the impression the $60 fee was a USCF administrative fee. An administrative fee would be understandable, given that the USCF has to provide administrative support to process FIDE’s events. (Whether the fee is too high or should be assessed differently is another question.)

It’s a little of both. FIDE charges national federations a fee, and US Chess passes that on along with an admin fee. In the case of a very small section, more of that fee stays in Crossville. I’d imagine that for an event the size of, say, the U.S. Masters, we keep very little of it.

I don’t think there’s any reason to split them for submission to the USCF. The National Open had two FIDE rated sections, but the entire tournament is shown unified on the MSA.

It appears that little to no notice has been taken of Executive Board motion EB16-052, which was passed by a 7-0 vote on April 27, 2016:

The most direct way of satisfying the requirement for the $40 discount and also still producing a usable US Chess rating report is to use SwissSys and the combined US Chess/FIDE rating database I publish every month. (I apologize for the shameless self-promotion.) Send the US Chess office the SwissSys file for the last round of the FIDE rated section and the schedule of rounds. (The FIDE rating report requires the date each round was played.)
