Helen Warren is still making news!

In the Daily Harold old friend, former Board member, APCT head honcho, and super Master chess supporter Helen Warren still manages to make the papers!

A nice human interest article with a chess angle - many times non-player writers get swept up in the game and make the players one-dimensional. Other than ascribing the Ruy Lopez to ‘a move’ (I suppose you could say Bb5 is ‘the move’ but that’s a bit superficial), the author does a decent job of staying away from obvious non-player writer ‘blunders.’

Nice to see that Helen is still with us - she sounds as sharp as ever. A true giant of the game in the Midwest!

I don’t know if it was edited since you looked at it but I see

as referring to openings, not individual moves.

I was referring to the sentence that concludes “to Lopez, the 16th Century Spanish priest whose opening move still carries his name.”

Helen Warren is sharp as a tack, still. And still promoting chess, one person at a time.
