How do I reset my USCF rating?

26 (as I previously mentioned when you incorrectly said it was 25 in a previous thread).

This minor correction was made upthread about a month ago - immediately after the post quoted herein.

Yup.

I know but I told Allen that it was 26 and not 25 in a previous thread but he obviously didn’t learn so I thought the extra reminder might help.

Look at some of my ratings and latest games on chess.com, also the “Chess Mentor”. I don’t know if ratings at chess.com mean anything in real life though…

Nothing

I very much doubt it. Ratings on various online servers are notoriously inflated, probably in an effort to make players feel good. If you’re rated 1800 on one of those, but you’ve never played in a USCF-rated OTB event, you will be shocked into reality when you do finally take the plunge, probably to the tune of about 1300.

Lord have mercy, I struggle to get above 1500 on ICC; Guess that means I’m but 700 strength :imp: but I’m 1666 USCF

Well, you’ve proved yourself by playing USCF OTB. Perhaps “server inflation” isn’t quite as bad as I thought, or perhaps it varies considerably from one server to another. Or maybe you’re just more comfortable OTB and your rating shows it.

I hate it, though, when somebody who has never played rated OTB tells everybody he’s about 1800 strength online so he’s sure he’d also be about 1800 OTB.

+1

However, on chess.com, I feel like the 1400+ people play like 1700+ people. Maybe chess.com is deflated…

This is an interesting quote to me. Personally, I don’t have a good way to describe how someone 300 to 600 points above me plays, except to say that they’re extremely strong…which doesn’t require much analysis.
