Sean did the talking, but Bear was discussed. I learned that Bear was Sean’s seizure alert dog. Bear could sense when Sean was about to have a seizure before he actually experienced it. This early warning system had tremendous value, as one can imagine. I understand the connection between Bear and Sean much better than I did. I gained this awareness by actually talking to him about it.
Understanding can lead to compassion, if we are open to it. I no longer consider it a joking matter, but understand why others still do.
