Monroi has ignored three separate inquiries whether I can move PGN game files between the Personal Chess Manager and my Mac, so I don’t know where else than here I might be able to get an answer.
Is anyone able to move game data back and forth between the PCM and a Mac running OS X? Using a USB cable? Moving the SD card back and forth?
I’m not going to spend that kind of money unless I know I can move the games from the Monroi onto my Mac? Anyone able to do this, or not able to do it?
I own several Monrois and none of them are able to transfer data with the USB cable at all. The only thing the USB cable can do is charge the device. It has nothing to do with the OS. For this reason, I emailed Monroi over a year ago and had them change their advertising for their product. They used to advertise that their product was “USB enabled” I explained to them that this was very misleading as “USB enabled” implicitly means that a “universal serial bus is enabled.” It is not. Power/data via a USB is quite different than power only. To their credit, it wasn’t long after that that they removed this phrase.
Way below 2200! I’m 48 and I’ve been playing for less than two years. However, within the last few months I have defeated two opponents with 1330+ ratings.
The Mac compatibility question has nothing to do with ratings or lessons. It is about easily getting games onto my computer so that I can post them on my, er, my deceased bluetick’s web site (still under construction):
Can’t say I know any other Caissa-oriented canines…
On PC I used Crafty to convert my notebook games to PGN before I bought ChessBase 10. I did a quick Google search and it looks like you could input your games on a MAC into ChessDB http://chessdb.sourceforge.net/ or MacChess http://members.aol.com/Macchess/. Both programs look free from my cursory glance.
If you have a Mac based program that reads PGN files you should have no problems transferring the games to your Mac. As Terry mentioned you can’t do it directly with the provided USB cable. You have to download to an SD card and then use a card reader to copy the files to your computer.
