He was mentioned in a recent ChessBase article. He played in chess tournaments in Washington State in early 1960’s. The crosstable of the 1962 Seattle Seafair in the August 1962 issue of WASHINGTON CHESS LETTER lists him in 2nd place. Both he and Duncan Suttles scored 5.5-.5 in the 63 player event. Suttles took the title on tie-break. Grover’s Northwest Rating on the table was 2009, Suttles 1920. Jim McCormick on this table was listed as 2239 and he scored 5-1 losing to Dan Wade. Grover drew with John Bell rated 2212 and Suttles drew with Greg Kern.
The 1962 Washington Woodpusher was won by Grover and Terry Nelson.
He played in some other events but did not win the events.
