Lone Pine after 1980

Recently I was once again looking the book by Grefe and Waterman: The Best of Lone Pine. I noticed that it was written that at the 1980 event that Louis Statham announced that a trust fund had been set up to ensure future Lone Pine tournaments. However, I have never seen anything that would show that there was another Lone Pine tournament after 1980. Does anyone know what happened? Was the trust fund never established or was there some other reason there was never another event in Lone Pine after 1980?

I was given to understand that his wife detested chess players. (Third hand, at best.) The city hall that he built still stands in Lone Pine (a town nearly unchanged from the tournament days) and has a small plaque that honors Mr. Statham.

There was one more Lone Pine, in 1981.
The following year Isaac Kashdan suffered a stroke.
That seems to be the most important factor in the end of the tournaments.
