Was Nakamura subjected to drug testing immediately after beating the Russian in round 9? So reports SP in her blog this morning. She cites Mike Klein as her source.
Q? Was this a random test?
Sorry, I just don’t trust the b*****ds! FIDE is run by a guy who was the KGB chief of South Ossetia. You can take the guy out of the KGB, but not vice-versa. I am sure their tactics are well-known by all, including yourself.
Are there any drugs that would enhance the performance of a Chess player?
I understand that the reason for doing them is just to comply with a blanket policy required by the IOC for all sports, so FIDE does them just to be affiliated with the Olympic movement, but isn’t it kind of silly?
I find it funny. With some of the bizarre moves in that game, one would think they BOTH need to be drug-tested, maybe for LSD. Seems there was a bit of hallucinating going on there… Congrats to Naka and a great and important win, and more importantly, for the weird Nb1 in a (successful) attempt to avoid a draw.
I have always wondered about those who do not drink coffee… But to write, “…iced tea is only good for stripping paint off boats” can only be considered fighting words to those of us fortunate enough to have been born and raised in the glorious South!
I didn’t think so, but dateline had a recent episode that some drug (used for another purpose) is really helping people keep focused, even after near sleep deprivation.
From what i understand, its kinda under the radar thing that people that fly a lot take to combat *jet lag, but its qualities to enhance thinking and focus is amazing. Of course, no studies have been done to see what the long term effects of taking a drug like that on a regular basis might do.
*Not sure what the real use of the drug is, but combating jet lag is most certainly NOT on its list of recommended uses.
