NS. NC. W?

NS. NC. W.

In a TLA, what does the above “W” mean?

TLA for Washington (state) Class Championships
( http://www.uschess.org/tlas/12052.ctla )

I think NS=No smoking, NC=No computers; and…
…maybe W= Must be a member of Washington state Chess Federation?

Wheelchair accessible potentially?

Yes, that’s what it means. In the September issue of Chess Life the abbreviations are explained on page 70.

Do NS and NC still appear in TLAs? Aren’t virtually all tournaments NS and NC these days?

Bill Smythe

I still use them. Force of habit, I guess, plus I copy TLAs from previous tournaments.
