On March 2 I attempted to sign up a couple of kids for the supernationals using the online store at USChess.org. Received an “order number/thanks for your order” notice in my email. Right after that, received a “sorry, but your order could not be processed immediately, it may need to be processed manually. Please allow 5 working days for them to review and process your order.”
Advice, anyone: do I just let this lie or do I attempt to call the USCF and straighten it out?
I’ve check the registration list a couple of times, and it hasn’t grown, so perhaps this, too, is backed up?
As I have noted elsewhere, this is a function of the braindead Earthlink-based webstore that the USCF has been using for a number of years.
It sends out a confirmation e-mail with the order number, but that doesn’t reallly mean the order has been processed.
Until the new webstore gets completed, all tournament registrations have to be entered manually at the USCF office. I belive they received well over 1000 registrations in the week just ahead of the entry deadline for Supernationals, they’re still working on getting them all entered.
If you received the ‘your order could not be processed immediately’ message, then your registration HAS been received at the USCF office.
Did you happen to notice that the 2nd message specifically says:
It will take them a while to get them all processed and up on the supernationals advance registration list. Sit tight.
