There’s a problem with the december allratings file that is being worked on, there are way too many records coded as life members. I hope to have replacement files posted later today.
The gold master files do not appear to have this problem.
I’m confused. On this page there is no file called Gold Master. Can we start using the parlance of the new system?
There are All Members files and All Ratings files. Are the All Members files impacted?
I"m kind of frustrated with Leago changing terminology we’ve used for over 20 years. (Directorships bugs the hell out of me, what’s wrong with ‘TD History’??)
On MUIR there is one ‘All Ratings’ TSV file, that’s what we formerly called the allratings tab file (and it was previously a .txt file)
There are two DBF files called ‘All Members’, those are what we formerly called the Gold (or Golden) Master files, one with regular/quick ratings and one with regular/blitz.
FWIW, for December I think all 3 files have the same number of records in them, that’s a separate issue we’re working on, it is related to the CIVI-CRM issue that allows people to create IDs without purchasing a membership, so the fix is not a quick one.
My understanding is that recent versions of WinTD (5.0 or later, possibly) will ONLY process the tab file, but you may need to change the file name to rtglist.txt for WintD to recognize it.
There aren’t really 127,476 life members? Do we have the replacement file yet (although I doubt it impacts me)?
No the correct number should probably be in the 8000 range. (All told there have been under 13K life memberships sold, but a number of them are either inactive because they didn’t respond to the survey a few years ago or the member is flagged as deceased.)
I don’t have a corrected file yet. We’re in the stage where the relationship between US Chess and Leago is transitioning from development/testing mode (move fast and break things) to production/support mode (make it clear what needs to be done) so corrections have to go through the established procedures now. Welcome to the bureaucracy.
That doesn’t make me optimistic about the timeline for any of the other missing pieces, I have to say.
It has its bad points but also its good points. US Chess need to make it clear what needs to be corrected and through proper channels so we aren’t spinning wheels, being inconsistent, duplicating efforts or making things worse. What we get with that additional effort is more efficient actions.
A corrected allratings tab file has been posted to the legacy site for rating supplements, it is not yet posted as a corrected December 2025 allratings file on MUIR. (I just gave them the OK a few minutes ago after running extensive tests on the data.)
7807 in the latest file downloaded through wintd, just to confirm the correction.
Sounds about right, I think they changed to using 2299-12-31 when they moved to the new membership system and there have been well over 100 life memberships sold since then.
Ah yes. I see 75 members with 2299-12-31 in the latest file in addition to the 7807 with 2099-12-31.
There are a smattering of other expiration dates for life members, I don’t know why.
Someone needs a calendar reminder to update all of these around 2090 ![]()
Methuselah isn’t on the payroll at US Chess.
Mine got set to 200 years +1 Month after the prior expiration date of 2025-01 so 2225-02
