Hey, Developed a new chess clock for the market. Added a ton of extra functions, but I have a question on one of them.
I added a “Last Game” function. From my years of selling at the tournaments, one of the questions that was never answered was what happens when a clock is turned off “Accidentally”. How is the time re-created? This was a rare problem, but when it happened, it was horrible on the TDS
What this function does is it remembers the times for both players from the last game when the clock was turned off. It brings the times back up on both screens and when you push the center button one more time it shows who’s turn it is. Press the center button one more time and you can re-start the game from that point.
My question is…could those times be appealed? Sounds like a stupid question until someone tries to fight it.
I added this to ease the pain of being a tournament director. Just like the “TD Adjust function” where adding and subtracting time can be done is less than 30 seconds by a rookie.
I know it is late to ask this question…but I just thought of it now.
Sure, it could be appealed, but consider the rules baseline:
16O Defective Clocks
Every indication given by a clock is considered to be conclusive in the absence of evident defects. A player who wishes to claim any such defect must do so as soon as aware of it. A clock with an obvious defect should be replaced, and the time used by each player up to that time should be indicated on the new clock as accurately as possible.
