September Rating Supplement problem reported

A member has reported that when he tries to unzip the September Rating Supplement file, it asked for a password.

He says he tried it several times.

I’ve downloaded both the September update and the September Gold Master files, neither of them required a password for me to unzip them, but it’s likely that the program I used to unzip them is different than the one that member was using.

Has anybody else experienced problems with the September supplement file(s)?

I tried both files and they worked just fine for me.

I wonder if the user just left the user name and password(or just the password field if that is the case) blank and hit enter if his unzip program would work with the files.

Has this user downloaded the supplements before?

No problem with the Gold Supplement. Maybe it’s his zip program that needs the info, rather than the zip file itself.

Well, he says he’s done it before on this computer, and he’s using the unzip tool that’s built in to Windows XP/Windows Explorer.

My first thought once I verified that the file didn’t require a password for me was that this might be some kind of crippleware ‘feature’, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I went ahead and downloaded the Golden Database and the supplemental and didn’t have a problem with either one.

I even deliberately corrupted a copy to see what would happen and when trying to unzip it I just got the error message that the file was corrupt. No asking for password etc.

Maybe the person should try to download it again??

Maybe he has a version of ZIP that allows itself to be used only a small number of times before the user has to register (and pay for) the program?
