Setting the popular digital clocks for G/90;inc30

I created this document on how to set the popular digital clocks for G/90;inc30, pdxchess.org/wp-content/uploads/ … 0inc30.pdf. I hope TD’s and players will find this a valuable resource. I still plan on adding a little more information on at least some of the clocks, adding a picture of each clock, and fixing any potential typos, grammar, or formatting issues but I thought I would go ahead and share the current version of the document which has all the main instructions on how to set the clocks.

I trust that we have permission to link to this in our TLAs?

Sure!

US Chess should feel free to post my document on the US Chess website as well.

Very nice, thank you!

Could you put a date on the document for when you revise it, and would you consider header/footers with page numbers? (Considering printing a hardcopy of it and would like to know when I need a reprint / not confuse iterations… )

Sure, I can do those two things. I would wait a little bit before printing the document out since I plan on adding a little more information on the clocks that are currently in the document and adding one more clock to the document.

I’ve added your two suggestions to the document (thanks for the suggestions!). I’ve also added the new YS-902 clock to the document (I wouldn’t be surprised to see this clock become popular amongst scholastic players like the LEAP PQ9907s has since it’s around the same price and has mostly the same features) as well as a few minor changes. I would still wait before printing it out since I still plan on adding at least one more clock to the document, adding a little more information on at least some of the clocks, adding a picture of each clock, and fixing any potential typos, grammar, or formatting issues.

Would you consider adding my very old (circa 1996) version of the Chronos, which had an on-off switch on the bottom instead of the current press-it-five-times method of shutting it off? :smiling_imp:

Please :smiling_imp:  :smiling_imp: don’t take this too seriously. :smiling_imp:

Maybe if you write instructions for it .

I’ll tell you what. If at least five credible posts appear here from five different people saying they still own one of those in working order, and they’re still active in tournaments, I’ll do it.

I’ve added a picture of each clock to the document. I’m still trying to get information on one more clock, the LEAP PQ9917, to be able to add that clock to the document. I also still plan to add a little more information on at least some of the clocks and fix any potential typos, grammar, or formatting issues.

I rarely see the DGT folding clock in my area. Does anyone see enough of the DGT folding clock that you think it would be worth adding to the document?

I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a DGT folding clock, whatever that is. From the name it sounds as though it might be good only for zero-increment, zero-delay, single time controls of 59 minutes or less.

I have seen those from time to time. From what I remember it is a very limited clock. I would not recommend it to anyone.

The clock does increment and delay. It doesn’t do multiple time controls.

The main problems with the clock (at least the older versions of the clock, not sure if the new blue and white version has fixed these things) are that the player buttons have to be pressed firmly or they won’t register. Also, if the time is above twenty minutes, you can’t make an exact two minute time penalty adjustment (digitalgametechnology.com/in … ing-a-game).

Are there any other time controls you would like to me write instructions for? I’m thinking of doing 40/120,SD/30;d10 next.

I’ve added the LEAP PQ9917 clock to the document. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this clock become popular amongst scholastic players like the LEAP PQ9907S has since it’s similar in functionality to the LEAP PQ9907S but is physically bigger and has a bigger display, has a few additional features, and is only a few dollars more.

How about Chess Evolution?

The Chess Evolution clocks are already in my document.

Perhaps they Evolved again after you put them in?
