Submitting Tournament Results not going through

I submitted a tournament yesterday and received

The following: “Please wait for admin staff to review your event.”

I got a notice that the coding of two participants was not specified. It is not a scholastic event. I went in to document that, but the coding box would not open. It also mentioned that one state did not match the majority (he came in from out of state).

Also: “Opponent not specified (forfeit exception). Two people did not show (who usually do show). At the end of round one, I pulled them as SwissSys (ChessRoster) recommended removing the players.

Section/1:YMCA Kleptz Rated Dec 2025/participantCoding

∙Participant coding not specified

Section/2: Extra House Player Game/participantCoding

Player state does not match the majority. (expected: OH)

Opponent not specified (forfeit exception)

Typically, the admin team email is received within 30 minutes; I correct it, and it is rated within one hour.

The name of the pending tourney to be rated is: YMCA Kleptz Rated Dec 2025

Can someone assist?

You should send an email to ratingsmgr@uschess.org for assistance with rating report submissions.

To: Chris Bird,

Neither the USCF Admin nor the Ratings Manager has contacted me. I see the USCF offices are not to be closed for the holidays until December 24, 25, 31, and January 1. Kathy Lin tried to help, but says this is the first time that it won’t let you change the participant code.

Once you submit an event with issues that need staff review, you cannot edit the event further unless you go back and cancel the submission. That’s because once event is submitted for payment, it can be paid by a NON-TD working for the affiliate, and such an individual does not have the authority to change any pairings or rating related data.

The participant type coding is now required for all events. You have four choices:

Non-scholastic,
Scholastic,
JTP Primary
JTP K12

Unless you’re running a JTP event, your choices are between scholastic and non-scholastic. We don’t know what type of event you were running, but you do, that’s why we ask you to tell us that information. (BTW, ‘how many scholastic events’ or ‘how many adult events’ we run is a common question from the media and potential sponsors, so that field is important.)

  1. I have not had admin staff respond (send an email).

  2. The Participant coding did not populate for me to code it. Otherwise, I would have chosen Non-Scholastic.

  3. Since the admin staff have not responded, I will see if I can get someone else (non-TD) to pay it. Participants are asking why it isn’t rated, and since the admin staff haven’t responded, I can’t answer them. I have made a good-faith effort to get this event rated.

Resolved. Thanks to Korey Kormick!
