Student Union Treasury voted to allocate $49,800 to bring Garry Kasparov to campus at its weekly meeting on Tuesday.
Pending final contracts being signed, Kasparov will be coming to campus in April.
That is from Student Life, the independent newspaper of Washington University in St Louis since 1878.
Although that is a lot of money for a speech, I thought Garry would not make an appearance for less than 50 K!

Compared to many speakers, that IS NOT a lot of money for a speech. George Bush’s fee is 3 times that. In 2011 Clinton’s fee for speaking at the University of Albany was $200K. Barbara Walters gets about double Kasparov, but Carl Rove only about 55% as much.

Karl Rove, I believe.
Naw, I was talking about my next door neighbor, Carl.
