On March 13, 1879, Adolf Anderssen died at aged 60.
Young man by today’s standards. RIP.
At least it wasn’t on Friday the 13th (it was a Wednesday if I calculated correctly).
Alexei Troitzky, one of the greatest composers of chess endgame studies was born on March 14, 1866n (died August 1942).
Akiba Rubinstein died on this date in 1961, in Antwerp, Belgium. Rubinstein was one of the strongest grandmasters (had there been such a title) in the early 20th century, and was known as an excellent end game player. He was born December 12 1882, in Stawiski, Poland.
Since I missed March 9th, I’ll note (retroactively) that Fischer was born 3/9/1943.

Thursday, if my spreadsheet is correct.
