Play some chess!
Too bad International Chess Day doesn’t get as much traction around here as National Chess day.
The other question is why isn’t National Chess Day on the same day as the International Chess Day.
I guess in America, we have to do it our way or it’s not the American Way.
Pretty soon, I expect that our national chess day will be moved to the date of Russia’s national chess day.
Considering International Chess Day is the anniversary of the founding of FIDE, and considering some of the issues with FIDE, I’m not surprised that National Chess Day is on a different date. After all, it was declared by Ford in 1976 at the height of the Cold War and FIDE may not have been seen favorably by the US government at that time.
