unrreported results

I played an extra game at the US Open. I won. It was a gain of 25-30 rating points to me (not that big of a deal—trust me). The TD in charge of that stuff failed to report it to USCF. I often advise players what to do in this situation. Now I have to follow my own advice—“Contact the chief TD. Once the Chief advises the USCF you can get satisfaction.” I followed the procedure….more to come later.

I don’t think we can rate games that feature the Budapest.

Umm…I no longer play the “Pest.” The game was a BDG that Fritz says was a joke–“The next to last player that makes a mistake wins!”

Then the TD in charge was correct not to rate it.
Rated games should be serious and not “a joke.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Many long years ago I believe I once lost to this Joker playing such a joke. It may have been what convinced me to teach him to TD (so I wouldn’t have to lose to stupid openings anymore.) :sunglasses:

Sorry. I got your goofy openings mixed up. :stuck_out_tongue: (I do remember more than one College of Lake County victim of your Budapest, though.)

Oh, the mendacious purity of the chess classicist.

Last night I won a rated game as black in a Budapest. (after the dreary 3. d5) The last time I beat a Master as Black was in a Budapest. It’s a thoroughly almost-sound, sorta-playable, off-beat opening for Black. It throws off-kilter the inner ear of some QP-players, even veterans strong enough that it should not be so.

OTOH, it’s fun to watch young players who learn the Budapest to replace the Dutch, as they stare at the board after 2. Nf3. What to do now? I know, I was there meself once upon a time.

Sorry to go on about chess here…So, when do we get a recap of the Delegates Meeting?

Responding to this in the proper fashion would probably lead to an AUG violation. So, I’ll simply note that the quoted statement is false.

(EDIT: It was pointed out to me that this could have been misread for me being upset with Eric Mark. That was definitely not the case, and I apologize to him or anyone else who might have read me that way. It’s my fault for not being clearer. I actually hate “proper” openings - in large part because I’m too lazy to study them. This is why I play stuff like the Danish and the Benko. I should’ve thrown in an emoticon somewhere…but I’ve been posting a lot more than usual today, so I was in a hurry.)

Adding a player usually requires re-submitting the event and deleting the previous event ID. Phil is probably en route back to Crossville, whether Bill Snead has the data to resubmit the event is unclear.

The US Open has been corrected to add Tim’s extra game. The new event ID for this event is 201208120022.

And the system works just fine when adjusting this kind of misstep. I followed my own advice (contact the chief TD and USCF) and it works just fine!

Thanks!!
