# US Chess Club TD Certification Expiration Date

I have a friend who sent in his application to become a Club TD for the first time a few weeks ago. On his MSA page, it says his TD Certification expires on 3-31-2023, [uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlTnmtDir.php?13653814](https://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlTnmtDir.php?13653814). The Club TD certification is suppose to be good for three years so why does it say his certification expires on 3-31-2023?

When I look it says 2026. Maybe a synchronization issue.

When I looked yesterday it said 2023. Now it says 2026. I have no idea why it would have initially said 2023.

When a player renews a membership for 1, 2, or 3 years, the system probably just adds 1, 2, or 3 years to the player’s previous expiration date – or to today’s date, if expired or not previously a member.
It might work the same way for a club TDship. The system adds 3 years to today’s date if not previously a TD.
This is a two-step process. First step is to calculate today’s date. Second step is to add 3 years. These two steps, for some reason, are done 12 hours apart. Anybody who looks at the record during that 12-hour period wlll see 2023. Those who look at it later will see 2026.
It does seem as though the current system often acts in strange ways.
