USCF Hero for a Day

Hello, Chess Fans.

A lot of smart people post great thoughts and wisdom on this Forum. Sometimes (perhaps “far too often” is a better word), the issues being discussed get clouded by the personalities involved. So, it’s time for a change . . . .

The rules for this thread are simple. Nominate someone you’ve noticed for a positive contribution they made to chess today. And explain why.

TODAY’S USCF HERO for a DAY: Mike Nolan. Some of you may know I took a four year absence from organizing and directing tournaments (no, I wasn’t in prison). I used to log into the the TD/Affiliate area often but I have basically forgotten all I knew. A friend showed me how to log back in. That link is light years ahead of where it was when I last saw it. And the name all over its creation is “Mike Nolan - man of destiny.”

Thank you Mike, for making USCF a better place.

It’s safe to say almost all of us agree with you about Mike Nolan. The next Hero for a Day, therefore, will necessarily be someone who stands out just a little less.

According to the great one’s own data, there are 74,198 USCF members. Surely more than one is heroic?

Where is it written that only USCF members may be USCF heroes?
