The Dean of Michigan Chess. This man was a joy to work with.
In his eighties , he was Editor, Publisher, Membership Secretary, Mailer, etc.
When he gave up these jobs, it took five of us to replace him!
No one had a greater passion for chess and its promotion.
The only player I ever knew who opened with the Polish (1. b4!), and was very dangerous to play against.
The chess gods are increased by 1, and we are left with a thousand wonderful memories.
Tim Sawmiller
Former President
