In case anyone was still wondering: So far, so good. Got the new laptop with the Windows 7 Home Premium O.S. Ran a small tournament in WinTD. All went well.
Excellent, and thank you for the report! Just ordered a Win7 Home Premium laptop myself. Next major purchase will be WinTD for myself. 
Who needs all this hardware? Donāt they still sell pairing cards? 
Sure, but I canāt use pairing cards to watch Netflix on demand, or, more importantly, play internet chess, now can I?
In my experience, you donāt even need the pairing cards. Itās clear that every player can do the pairings in his head while looking at the wall chart - just announce that players should sit down and play. They already know what board they will be on, who their opponent is, and what color they have.
In case of problems, remember the rule that the higher rated player gets his due pairing.
