It looks like I am on the hook to fulfill my promise. I am going to open another thread and include 7 games that were nominated for brilliancy prize with my commentary.
IF we have an organizer who wants to take the financial risk for this event I will be happy to promote that bid in the next CCA General Assembly.
(That is CCA as in Chess Confederation of Americas - not Bill’s CCA)
Yesterday I had a phone conversation with one of the participants of the World Senior.
He confirmed that unfortunately our GMs in 50+ section despite finishing with solid 7.5 /11 didn’t win any prizes.
I have to admit that I like the American practice of splitting cash prizes evenly much better than using any kind of tie-breaks. A single loss at the beginning of the event can ruin your tie-breaks and dramatically affect prize winning potential (if it is tie-break based).
Another feedback was that air conditioning in the playing hall left a lot to be desired and affected the results of this particular player significantly. This also contrasts with two of US Senior events (organized by US Chess) which I was privileged to participate and playing hall conditions were top notched!
