So that those who hadn’t seen it would know that it exists. Perhaps they will choose to read it at a library, or perhaps they have a subscription to a service that provides access to articles in which WSJ is included (like Flipboard), or perhaps they can read their workmate’s WSJ.
Also, WSJ sometimes (often? always?) makes articles available after awhile. The second article was available to be read without logging in.
Why are (either of you) annoyed by this? Why is it my ‘fault’ that you’ve chosen not to subscribe to a service?
