Carl Haessler of Lake Oswego Oregon has won the 2009 Oregon Chess Championship held recently at the Portland Oregon Chess Club. It was a 10 player round robin event held over two weekends. Carl last won the event in 1996. 21 different men have won the title since the first event in 1961. Some years there were co-champions but most of those who were co-champions also won it clear at least one year.
