As a director of the Correspondence Chess League of America, I invite readers to participate in our annual tournament made possible by an endowment gifted by Herbert W. Gustafson.
The 2014 Gustafson Memorial Tournament does not have an entry fee and is open to all players residing in the United States or Canada, and to all members of SchemingMind.com. The deadline for entries is OCTOBER 15, and play will begin soon after.
This tournament is played under CCLA rules, which prohibit the use of chess engines and depend on the players’ honor to abide by this prohibition. The tournament will be played via the ICCF webserver at iccf.com, but will be CCLA rated only (ICCF only rates play in which engine use is permitted).
Entrants are assigned to four-player sections in order of rating. The first-place prize for each section will be $19 credit for CCLA memberships or entries. Only one entry per player is permitted.
Entries should be emailed to CCLA President Herb Hickman, at herbhickman@comcast.net. Include:
Your full name,
Your rating (correspondence before OTB; specify organization),
email address to be used by the ICCF server for notifications, and
ICCF ID# if you have one.
All the best,
–Brennan Price
