Attention North Carolina Chess Players (Info on TACO LXXVI)

Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Irene, the Raleigh Tournament Chess Club will be monitoring the potentially dangerous conditions and make a decision Friday evening about whether or not to host our scheduled TACO LXXVI this Saturday. At present we are planning on conducting the tournament but if conditions appear as if they are going to deteriorate more than currently anticipated in Raleigh then we will have no choice but to cancel. You can follow our club’s website at raleighchess.com or contact Jeff Jones at (919)270-9948 for more information.
We hope that everyone will remain safe in what is shaping up to be a serious weather event.

Best Regards,
Jeff Jones
President, Raleigh Tournament Chess Club
Raleigh, North Carolina

Note from System Administrator:
Organizers are encouraged to post to the Forums any weather-related changes in their events. If the office can help in other ways, such as sending out a quick email blast (generally at no charge), please let us know.

Just got word from Jeff Jones that since the weather threat in the Raleigh area has been downgraded…the TACO event is ON for tomorrow. Hope lots of chess players make it out.

I regret to inform that we are starting to have some power issues in Raleigh so we have been forced to cancel TACO LXXVI. I regret doing this at the last minute, but with power flickering in south Raleigh and worsening conditions, not to mention remaining weaknesses for the April tornado, I am convinced that the tournament will have major issues at best. The Raleigh Tournament Chess Club regrets any inconvenience.
