CAGUAS INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

INVITATION
The Rafael Ortiz Foundation (Fundación Ajedrez Rafael Ortiz; FARO) is honored to invite all national and international chess players to the Caguas International.
The Caguas International will be held in the Chess House at Caguas, Puerto Rico from May 14 to 17, 2009.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
This event will be conditioned by this invitation. Non mentioned rules for this invitation will be based on the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rules. Lack of knowledge of the rules of chess does not exempt their compliance.
Characteristics: The Caguas International is an open tournament in which any national or international chess player may participate.
Tournament Format: 8 rounds in the International Category and 5 rounds in the U2000 and student Categories, Swiss System.
Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 second increment in the International and U2000 Categories. 30 minutes for the Student Category.
Tie Breaker System: 1) A game between the two, 2) Progressive, 3) Sonneborn-Berger, 4) Number of victories.
The international players that wish to participate in the U2000 Category should provide the tournament director with certification by the countries’ Federation or Association indicating the official rating of the player is less than 2000.

COSTS AND CALENDAR
Inscription Cost: $75 for International Category, $35 for U2000 Category and $5 for Student Category. The inscription cost may be paid in one of the following ways:
• The day of the event, at the time indicated.

Note: A player that comes after inscription time will have an additional charge of $10 and will begin on the second round with ½ point. Each of the participants that enroll by phone should communicate directly with the organizer of this event. Group enrollments are not allowed by phone, each person should enroll individually with the event organizer.

HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION
