Chessville.com is gone

Chessville.com suddenly went unchanged for several months a couple years ago, when the man behind it, David Surratt, fell ill.

Surratt eventually resumed Chessville.com, but the long disruption caused visitors’ habit of visiting to wane.

Some months later Surratt seemed to fall ill again (?).
The website was eventually taken over by someone else, who made a good effort to keep it going. But after perhaps 12-18 months, today I see these latest efforts were ultimately limited in their success.

Chessville.com domain name is available for sale.
This availability is very recent, as I visited Chessville.com about two weeks ago.
Even Bing and Google have not yet recognized that the website is no longer there to link to.

I do not have the perfect adjective to describe them, but Chessville.com had a range of article types that are not often seen on the other major chess websites. I appreciated that variety.

I remember finding some interesting stuff on there. It was good while it lasted. Mr. Surratt did a good job, best wishes for his health now.
