Correspondence questions

Would it be possible to put the correspondence rating history in MSA?

That’s in the long range plans, but it means making the way that correspondence events are handled compatible with OTB events, and that presents a few challenges. OTB events are rated when the event is over, correspondence events are rated as each game ends.

Rating correspondence games when the tournament ends would really not be workable, since the end date of games can vary by a couple of years.

Well you wouldn’t need to rate it at the end of the tournament. Which as rfeditor mentioned wouldn’t be a great idea. I would just make another module to rate correspodence tournaments as the games come in.

Perhaps let the program consider each game a tournament in itself (programming wise), but in reality part of the whole tournament. I know it can be worked out somehow. I will think about it some more and tell you what I come up with.

Right, so the question is how to deal with reporting and rating results on a game-by-game basis, allowing for corrections, and then how to display that information on MSA. A crosstable structure (like for OTB events) would show the progress of the section or match, but not the game-by-game ratings impact.

How are correspondence games rated? Is it the same formula as regular and quick?

All that information is available on the Correspondence Chess page (see tab at the top of this page).
