DGT Board Competitors?

Does anyone know of any similar products that will interface with a PC that might be a bit less expensive?

Thanks!

NOVAG makes a auto-sensory board called the Citrine. It is on page 5 of October CL.

Edit: It is a chess computer, so I don’t know if it could be used in a way similar to a DGT board.

How about $42?

More information here:

And a review here:

:unamused:

Or $40 from these folks and here’s their review (with prettier pictures):

Two opposing reviews - you decide.

Okay okay … so that wasn’t much of a competitor for the DGT board right?

Here’s a competitor for $320.

ruschess.com/Store/Equipment/board.html

It’s considerably less expensive than the DGT board.

Here’s one that you can’t buy … it’s one of a kind. Or so it seems.

And I checked this one out also, here’s a review:

chesshouse.com/Novag_Citrine … /b1032.htm

It is cheapest of all and can be used the same way the DGT can be used or at least it seems to be able to be used that way.

Chess House is offering it at $297. (But it’s out of stock.) :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s the biggest drawback to me about two player usage:

Cabinet size 14.5" x 14.5" x 1"
Chessboard size 11.75" x 11.75"
Each square is 1 1/2 inches
The King measures 2 1/2 inches high

Kinda small.

On the other hand, it’s about time someone built a stand alone chess computer that you can download your games. But I don’t know what the format is - pgn, fen, proprietary?
