Your are invited to become a member of Colorado Springs Chess News! Just sign
up online (cschess.webs.com/). I need 10 members to hit my goal. Also,
I am not sure how I am going to send out the newsletter in the future, as my old
email service is going away on March 15th. However, members will get email
blasts and have posting privileges.
People play chess in Colorado? Does Colorado have a team like those in Oklahoma and Texas, which meet annually in the Red River Shootout?
As all serious chess players know, the REAL Red River Shootout is a series of annual chess matches between the most fanatical chess players in Oklahoma and Texas. Texas leads 5-2 despite playing on the road six out of the past seven contests. The next match is scheduled for April 18th at Treasure Valley Casino in Davis, Oklahoma.
Chess fans everywhere can follow the progress of the Texas Chess Team and other chess celebrities on the famous chess reporter’s (Victor Yaward) blog site: texaschessreporter.blogspot.com
But one quick question: I looked over the Newsletter and wonder why you call it the “Colorado Springs Chess News”. Wouldn’t a more descriptive name for the publication would be the “Paul Anderson Chess News”?
However, even though Colorado Springs is fairly large and has the US Air Force Academy and Fort Carson nearby the club itself is probably like most other chess clubs. By that I mean five members on a good club night and one person running the show. So, Paul “is” the Colorado Springs Chess Club, which is still a very good thing.
Paul, keep publishing and advocating for chess. The chess game you added to You Tube was very interesting. Why in the world Black decided to counterattack so early in the game with his king in the lead is beyond me.
Yes, I am in there quite a bit. However, my goal, when I started this thing in 2004, was to encourage others to share their games and news. It just isn’t that easy, as I am not a TD and have to either copy the game myself or get their copy.
Anyway, this week has news from Dean Brown, Buck Buchanan, and David Meliti. A very busy news week for the newsletter.
Also, I checked my stats to see how often my games are there and it is about 62%.
Here is the list of everyone whose game I have published (you don’t have to read the whole thing):
29 Contributors and 57 games from people other than me (wins/total games)
Thanks! I am glad you liked the game. That was one against my dad over email. Always nice to beat your old man.
Anyway, Buck Buchanan, Dean Brown, and Jeff Fox are the CSCC. I am just more active promoting the club online. They do all the hard work and get very little recognition. I am just trying to chip in a bit to help them.
