I use Chess Assistant for my primary database software along with Bookup for analysis.
I’m curious what other people do with their databases.
I go 3 steps to clean my database and packages of games that I add into it.
- Remove duplicates
- Remove GM draws
- Remove No shows
I know that by doing this, I won’t be able to construct a complete cross-table for various tourneys, but is this necessary?
At first, I determined GM draws to be any game that was 10 moves or less that ended in a draw. I found that nearly 2% of all games were GM draws at this break point. Now though, I’m more aggressive in that I remove 12 moves or less that result in a draw. (LOL - I came across a Karpov-Kasparov game that was something like 8 moves & drawn.)
No shows - any game that is either zero moves or just the first move.
