Greetings,

I am back for another season of newsletters! This year I am getting things started off easy. Sometimes a chess win doesn’t have to be hard.

The Colorado Springs Chess Club will have round 2 of the March Swiss 90 (4SS, G/90+30, $10 entry) this Tuesday (3/13). You can still join for 3 rounds or even just play one night.

The Denver Chess Club will be closed on Tuesday and open on Thursday for their March tournament. So, feel free to try out CSCC!

Also, don’t forget about the Denver Open coming up soon:

Huh?? The score shows white as having just played Re7+ and then resigning without waiting for black’s reply. Either that, or his time expired, or he was forfeited as a cell phone penalty. What gives?

Bill Smythe

He suddenly noticed he’d just dropped a rook to the black bishop and resigned rather than continue a rook down.

Correct. White resigned so fast, I didn’t even see the mistake yet!
