Ian Dudley of Lyndonville CC Breaks 1800

After the two tournaments in Middlebury last weekend, Ian’s regular rating is now 1809! Not much different from the year I was born. :unamused: Congratulations, Ian. Now…on to 1900!

Here’s a game from the Sunday G-45 between Ian and the event’s promoter Parker Montgomery. Ian also won the Sunday G-45. A very nice two day event. Good fun had by all.

who is ian dudley and why should i care?

…cheers, …scot…

If you have to ask that question,…there’s not much I can say, except good luck in life.

oh, yeah, right, wasn’t he the frontman for that band i listened to in the 80’s, “ian dudley and the blockheads”? oh, snap, my bad that was ian drury. never mind.

cheers, …scot…

I agree with Mr. Henderson. This forum is so busy that only the most important information should be posted here.

 Thanks, Alex. You made my afternoon.

sorry, i forgot that your little microcosm in the northeast is the center of the chess world. pity us poor midwesterners who ask a simple question. mea culpa.

None taken. I considered this in the vein of Mr. Jomp’s thread about Eric Hoffner which, gasp, was set in the midwest.

P.S. Answer to your question is an A player from Vermont.

A visit to the player and ranking section would be preferable to your needless question and sarcasm. Wishing you your karma…

okay, truce, guys. i was wrong and i sincerely apologise. i just thought maybe ian was an up and coming junior player i was supposed to know about.

congratulations on your accomplishment, ian.

cheers, …scot…

Thanks.

embarrassed about my remarks yesterday. don’t know where my brain was. live and learn.

started reading “the grass arena”. thanks for the recommendation.

cheers, …scot…

No problem. Ian is an interesting young man. He’s in his first year of college as an economics major. As a blitz player, he’s the best in our area. I’m always amazed at how fast he sees patterns and makes his moves. I’ve never beaten him, but if I can actually get him to slow down and think for ten seconds or so, I consider that close to a win. I have managed to draw in blitz against him twice with perpetual check when I was at less than 30 seconds and he still had over four minutes on his clock. He’s got a good sense of humor and no attitude toward those of lesser strength. He seems to enjoy working with new players.
