Kirsan

The FIDE situation has gotten stranger, if that’s possible.
FIDE’s web site announced Kirsan had resigned as president on Sunday.
On Monday, he told Interfax that he hadn’t and suggested there was a coup attempt.
The web site withdrew the resignation announcement – and then replaced it.

It gets better. Kirsan told Tass this was all a plot by the USCF.

BBC World Service has a brief chat with Malcolm Pein:

Kirsan is simply a bitter man. He thought the Trump administration would be his friend due to the relationships Trump & Co. apparently have with Kirsan’s buddy, Vlad Putin. Unfortunately for Kirsan, Puntin and friends have become radioactive as far a Washington is concerned.

I think Malcom is a bit too optimistic as to how FIDE might change, or not, if Kirsan goes.
