We have had the same 8-12 guys show up for each of our tournaments. Now that we are a member, is there a better way to get people to participate in Nederland, Colorado- west of Boulder? Also, we are hoping to have rated tournaments and not sure how to start that process. I am new to this- my husband is the chess guy. I am hoping for info on organization and ideas on spreading the word…
I am in Colorado as well. I have never seen anything mentioned about tournaments in Nederland. A quick search of recent rated tournaments in CO on the USCF MSA pages didn’t show anything. How long have you been running events there?
One place you could post your upcoming tournament is on the CO state chess website - colorado-chess.com. Free posting of events is one of the services the website offers.
We are always looking for new events in the state to promote the game of chess. Hopefully we can work with you to get more players interested in your events.

Apparently the tournaments they have been running are not USCF-rated. If they were, they could get immediate free publicity in this website’s “Clubs and Tourneys” section.

Imagine that, a state association that promotes chess tournaments!
