I am curios to know:

The oldest Chess tournaments in the World and the US. (Top 10 for each)

Multiple sources list the NY State Championship as the oldest annual tournament in the USA. Started in 1878.

  2. 1893 Minnesota Open

Let me add the US Open since 1900 is definitely up there.

I heard that the NY State Championship was not always an open event. The Minnesota Open may be the oldest Annual Open event.
