Our national events director and many other members are in the path of the hurricane. Franc and his family as well as all of our members in harms way have been heavy of my mind today. Prayers for safety.
Anyone still in south Texas should get out if they still can.
Amen. Hope all is well and all are safe.
Best

I heard from Franc - they are hanging in there.
It is still raining and, of course, flooding here (I live in Galveston County, just south of Houston) and most streets are not drivable. I am sure that many of you have seen tv coverge of the flooding in the area, some call it the worse ever, and probably have seen some incredible footage of Dickinson, just five minutes south of us, facebook.com/ABCNews/videos … nref=story . The water level got very close to our front door but, thank God, did not make it in. So far, we are okay, but others in our area, including some of our family members and close friends, and others farther south, down to Corpus Christi, have not been as fortunate and their homes flooded. And, of course, some of those include US Chess members (not that it matters if they are or are not members of our organization). Thanks Allen and others for keeping all of us in your prayers…
Things are not over for our friends around Houston yet. Please keep them in mind.
Concerns over family and friends are always to be considered, no matter what the circumstances. I remember in 2004 when the US Open was in Ft. Lauderdale, and I was at the rental agency to get a car. There was a man there who wanted a rental car to drive over to Ft. Myers to check on his family & home in the path of the hurricane that was coming through at the time. His concern and anxiety was clearly evident. Hopes and prayers to all in the area.

Franc,
Are you going to be able to get to DFW for the Southwest Open next weekend? I see you are the Head TD. Stay safe!
